Just got this working for me! Thanks! I only had 39 posts to move, but I just didn't want to do it manually. Here's what I did:
1. Get archived versions of Wordpress 2.9.2: http://wordpress.org/wordpress...
2. Install wordpress on clean DB.
3. Place import script above in wp-admin/import/pixelpost.php
4. Move images directory from PixelPost installation into root of new WP install.
5. Run the import script. It does seem important that this is run on a new database. If you get errors figure out what went wrong, wipe your DB, reinstall WP, and run the import again.
6. Upgrade to the latest version of WP by clicking the link at the top of every dashboard page. Let it do the upgrade automatically.
7. Done!

Thanks for the play by play steps on the migration. It's always safer to have things backed up and test in that environment. I hope to back up my site ocala florida real estate in the event of catastrophic failure.

Thank you SO MUCH! Worked like a charm.

To those getting the ""File not found... /images/thefilename.jpg
Warning: getimagesize...etc." error, copy your "images" folder to the root directory of your wordpress. That worked for me.

Another note, this script was tripped up before comments when I attempted to use it on a clean install of 3.1 - to remedy this, I installed 2.9.1, ran the script, and upgraded to 3.0 to finish.

My new wordpress photoblog is now fully functional! Thanks so much and good luck to those of you looking to do this.

wordpress 3.0.3 does not have an import folder anymore (they have a new way of importing I guess), i tried creating one and following this up, but it doesn't work. Can you please help ?

How could it still work if there is no wp-admin/import directory in WP 3?

It WORKS with WP3. I just had a problem with comments (nothing was imported, array_merge issue ?) and posts UTF-8 special chars are fucked up but I guess it wouldn't be difficult to fix the import script.

Please stop polluting the comments with non-free alternative and false statements.

When using this script do it import each photo into a separate post in WP?

It does NOT work with WP 3 at all, crashes and corrupts the database. I opted for the solution mentioned above, http://www.eleventwentysix.com/pp2wp/ Took less than 3 minutes to export and then import into WP 3.
